How to Have an Online Darts Lesson with DartsMatt
If you’re looking to improve your throw, sharpen your technique or build confidence on the oche, Online Darts Coaching with DartsMatt offers a personalised and accessible way to elevate your game from the comfort of your own home. Whether you’re a beginner seeking fundamentals or an experienced player chasing marginal gains, this structured approach ensures that every session is tailored to your goals. Here’s exactly how the process works and what you can expect.
Step 1: Pre-Session Preparation
Your Darts Coaching journey begins with a simple but important preparation stage. Every player completes a short Background & Goals Form before the first session. Once payment is complete, you will gain access to the form.
This allows DartsMatt to understand your playing level, ambitions and any challenges you’d like to focus on.
Once this form is submitted, you’ll be asked to complete a short filming exercise following the provided guidance. This video helps capture your current setup and technique so Matt can assess your stance, throw, timing and dart path before your live session. This early insight ensures your coaching time is used efficiently and constructively.
Step 2: Your 90-Minute Online Darts Coaching Session
The primary coaching session is a comprehensive 90-minute virtual appointment designed to mirror the experience of an in-person lesson. It is broken into three focused stages:
30-minute discussion
This opening conversation explores the details of your game, your goals, what the filming revealed and how you like to learn. Matt will map out the coaching plan for the session and highlight the key areas to concentrate on.
30 minutes of throwing
Next, you’ll move into practical work. Under live guidance, you’ll throw while Matt observes your technique in real time. This is where adjustments, advice and immediate feedback make a meaningful difference. The aim is to build consistency, improve mechanics and reinforce good habits.
30-minute review and next steps
The final section of the session is dedicated to analysis and planning. You’ll review what was learned, discuss improvements and outline the drills or routines you’ll work on moving forward. After the session, you will receive a personalised Player Improvement Pack by email, which includes tailored guidance, practice routines and technical feedback—your roadmap to continuous progress.
Step 3: Optional Follow-Up Coaching
Many players choose to continue their development with an additional 1-hour follow-up session. This allows Matt to review your progress, refine your technique further and introduce more advanced coaching strategies when appropriate. While optional, it can significantly accelerate your improvement.
